Awkward...

That awkward moment when someone asks you when you are due...
and you have to say ummmmm
well the thing is i'm not pregnant.

Hair...

Jason has become a little obsessed with his hair lately...
He has never had his hair this long before!
He has a serious process of doing it in the morning..
Thanks to one of our friends Ben Justice who taught him how to get the way to the perfect wave..

#1 once out of out of the shower comb it straight back and hairspray
#2 let dry a little
#3 come back with mousse and a comb to get that little wave up top
#4 set with more hairspray
It is kind of funny but
He LOVES it...

You would not believe how many times a week J gets told me looks like Leonardo DiCaprio..
At first I thought people were CRAZY and I didn't see it at ALL!
Until my sister sent me this picture..
A little freaky!
The problem is if he doesn't do his hair this is what he looks like...
Rooster head

My brother juggled our faces the other day on his phone and this is what came out!
My head + Jason's face
=
Please bless our girls don't get his eyebrows!

He doesn't plan on cutting it anytime soon..
I ask sometimes how long he wants it
He looks at me like this and says MAYBE I will for one of your presents for Christmas :)
Sounds like not that reliable of an answer!

Time...

It seems like time has been going by faster than ever before...
How did it become the last day of October?!
Wasn't it just May?

My dad came through town a  little over a month ago to go to Idaho for his yearly potato run. Mandy, her kids and I jumped in the truck with him to make the day trip.
I love where I grew up...
Small farming community filled with lots of family and friends
We got to see a lot of people that we hadn't seen in a while
It was nice...
Love my dad SOO much!

We went to Rexburg to see Ashley and Trenton a couple of weeks ago too..
We kind of love to travel!
It was so fun to spend time with our friends and catch up...
WE LOVE THEM :)
We stopped in Pocatello to have dinner with Jo, Tyler, baby Eden, Jord, his girlfriend and Ashley and Trenton.. We need to do this more often!

Our Marriage in a nutshell...

It's not so bad that time is going by fast because life is good and we are blessed!

Random

Our schedule lately has been SOO random.
Some days we wake up at 7 and some we sleep in until 9:30..
We go bed some nights at 10 and others at 12:30...

I like having a schedule but it seems like its almost impossible lately.
Jase has night class and anatomy lab until midnight a couple days a week
The other night when he got home he walked in the door and asked me to put my shoes and a jacket on and he took me on a drive up the canyon to look at the stars.
It was 12:45
But I was happy that he still wants to spend time with me and do spontaneous things like we did in high school... you know when we use to be fun :)

5 years ago on Saturday was Septemeber 29th... the day Jason took me on my first OFFICIAL date!
I say official because we had been hanging out for years as friends and this was the first time we went somewhere TOGETHER not just in a group.
I knew I kind of liked him and that he was always making me laugh BUT there was no way that I would ever really go out with JASON HARPER!
He was just my friend.. right?!
Well... I was wrong
5 years later I couldn't imagine my life without this guy and couldn't be happier

Blessed

So as of late I have been SOOO busy that I have neglected everything in my life BUT work! My house was cuhrazzzy all summer... at all times there was some type of a cake project sprawled on our kitchen table, the laundry was done 9 times out of 10 by my sweet husband and dinner was a rare treat for us.. lots of cold cereal!!! To say the least we had a VERY busy summer... We were so blessed that Jason got to work with one of his friends James at a security place and I was completely BOOKED the whole summer with cakes. We looked back at the calender a couple of weeks ago and realized I hadn't had a week without a cake since MAY!
Long story short we are BLESSED!

I got last week off and had the chance to go and visit my sweet sister and her family in Iowa! My brother-in-law is in Orthodontics school and worked on my teeth for me after hours... I have horse teeth in an infant childs mouth so I have serious crowding issues so he helped with that and also shaved off a little bit of my front tooth so I wouldn't look like bucky the beaver...
or more like Mr. ED the horse!

We went to the outlets and did some Fall shopping... which you all know I can never get enough of :) We also went to the apple orchards! Katie and  Brendon had these amazing looking apple pie turnovers and I had the most delicious apple cider slushie. I got to spend time with the kids which is always a treat! They are so sweet and Miss Millie is always doing something crazy that made Kate and I laugh!
Kate, August and I at the Apple Orchards

On Saturday morning before I flew home we went to the Hawkeye Stadium and experienced what REAL tailgating is! It was a serious event... lots of food, lots of beer, and lots of people!

I had a blast and was so glad for the break! I miss Kate and wish that she lived closer... all in good time though :)
Now its back to the old grind.. work work work!

life....

Once upon a time I blogged... Then it became wedding cake season and I no longer have a life outside of buttercream and cake batter! BUT I decided to update you a tad on our life! We are busy busy busy... J is in summer school and just got a job and I am in a constant state of putting together a cake or thinking about the next cake I have. Life is good and we are blessed :) that is all I have to say for now! Oh one more thing we love seven peaks and we are kind of obsessed with the Bachelorette even though we act like we aren't!

Sweet Boy....

As of late Jason has been the sweetest... Everything between leaving me sweet notes in the morning when he leaves for school and I am still sleeping to making me dinner a couple nights a week. I haven't been feeling the best lately and when he sees something that needs doing he is on it! He has been cleaning the house, doing the laundry and the list goes on.  I don't love long posts about mushy love but I feel like I need to let the world know I married the best guy out there and I fall more in love with him everyday!

J making chicken tortilla soup
Seriously SOO good :)
One night Jase went to the "gym" and came home 20 minutes later with this! We made Smores and rice krispie treats... THEN did Jillian Micheal's SHRED!
For conference weekend we stayed in Orem and spent time in the new warm weather! We went on a picnic to a park close to our house between sessions on Saturday.
The other day Jason was making his protein shake for his post workout and forgot to snap the lid all the way on.... I feel like the picture explains it all :)
Going to school..
This week my parents were in town for a family wedding and my dad and J planted us our garden for this summer and I couldn't be happier about it!

Growing up we had a picture of my dad doing this exact pose in my Uncle Jack's home gym.. Mathis has made our garage into a home gym so when dad was in town he showed us all that he still has it after all of these years!

Jase and I have a big problem with waiting for holidays.. I opened my presents early on Christmas and a week before my birthday! So it didn't surprise me that we gave each other our Easter stuff today instead of tomorrow. While growing up my parents always made up riddles for us and left them on the kitchen counter on Easter morning... The riddle would lead you to our Easter baskets. My dad got pretty creative and I felt like I needed to keep on with the tradition and send Jason on a basket hunt! He found it within the first 5 minutes.... Not shocking at all though the kid is too smart for his own good!

Jase sent me on an Easter egg hunt in the house... Each egg had a clue to where the end prize which was my very first pair of RED toms!

DATE NIGHT....

We got the chance to go to the Miami vs Jazz game this past Friday night. It was honestly not only the best game I have ever been to but have watched and in this house we watch A LOT of basketball! It was such a close game all 4 quarters... We were in the 9th row and I felt like I could reach out and touch the players. Jase was so excited to watch LeBron James, Dwight Howard and all the other players on the Heat. We aren't fans of one particular team we just like to sit back and watch the game but we were happy the Jazz won by one point in the last 14 seconds of the game!

BUSY BODIES Picture Update...

Back in January we went rock climbing for Meags birthday... It was a lot harder than it looked but it was SO much fun! We are definitely going to go back.

We also went to a Utah Grizzlies hockey game when my brother-in-law Cameron was in town for a school interview at BYU. Let me tell you kids that was one of THE MOST INSANE experiences of my life! Between the sketch fans and the never ending punching match on the ice I went home a new women! Did you know that in hockey a player can punch you square between the eyes as many times as he wants just as long as you are still standing?!... even if you have missing teeth and blood everywhere? The ref won't do a thing until both of you have fallen over onto the ice... some game that hockey is! Maybe I should take it up.. on the other hand I kind of like my face the way it is now so I will just leave that up to the NHL players!

Lately we have been obsessed with cards... rummy, golf and what we like to call bazinga! We made the name up because we didn't know the real name but regardless the names we play every night EVERY single night!

This is how we shuffle sometimes!
We also love puzzles and scrabble and anything that will distract us for more than 5 minutes!
Jase and I get bored really easy... probably easier than the average American! So we took the plung and got THE PASS OF ALL PASSES! For those of you who don't know what that is it is a pass for unlimited seven peaks, trafalga, bowling, go karts, free REAL games and the list goes on! We are pretty jazzed about it if you can't tell. So when we have crazy  cabin fever we take advantage of our sweet pass. The other day we went and played glow in the dark mini golf on a Tuesday afternoon..

It was also my birthday on January 26th and Jason spoiled me as usual! He got us a Kinect which we have played a total of 3 times... we are lame but I am sure when we buy some games we will play it more. He also made me my very own rice krispie treat cake... 22 trick candles and all!

J also took me shopping and I got a couple cute shirts and a swimsuit for 15 dollars! You buy a top and get the bottom FREE!! I was pretty excited about it :)
Not usually a person that takes pictures of myself in the mirror but this top is just TOO STINKIN CUTE!

We got a chance to go to the coolest ski jump competition at Deer Valley with our friends Karee and Josh... these people would just flip and spin and spin and flip and then land perfectly! The Asian won... not shocking they are the best at everything. Sometimes I wish I was an Asian prodigy child.... ok getting off subject! It was really fun and we love spending time with friends.

It was Valentines Day a couple weeks ago and we celebrated it just like we always did growing up. My mom is the best mom out there! She always made Valentines Day such a special occasion. We would wake up to pink heart pancakes that my dad made us and in our spot at the counter the LOVE BUG had left us treats, love notes and usually a Valentines shirt and a pair of socks! The rest of the day was filled with lots of love... There were no socks this year at the Harper's but we stuck to the heart pancakes and lots of love tradition :) We also made some Valentines Day cookies for our friends and neighbors to spread the LOVE!

Jase kicking butt and taking names with his piping skills!

I got to go to Mandy's house for a week and it was so fun. I love spending time with her and her family! I got to meet new little Graham and spend a lot of time with miss Charlie. I use to go out every summer and spend at least 2 weeks with her but the past couple of years things just haven't worked out so when I got the chance to go I jumped on it. They are moving here this summer and I am so excited I text Mand almost everyday to tell her.. I am sure she is getting sick of it BUT I don't care :)

 Just so stinkin cute!
Not the best picture of Graham but I wanted to show you that Char loved to hold him and sing him songs! She is a great big sister...

I have this thing about rice krispies where I have no control as to how many I eat! I usually have great self control when it comes to food... especially ever since I have had my food allergies. BUT for some reason you put a pan of delish rice krispies in front of me I will kid you not eat the entire pan! Mand and I made 2 pans in 2 days! YEP I have problems but my mom always told me that is the first step to recovery... ADMITTING you have a problem!
We went to ULTA to try and find some lipstick and came out like this! We may have had too much fun.. it is kind of like dress up in there! You get to put on ridiculous makeup that you would never buy and go wild with it. We went to pick Char up from a friends house and the second she saw her mom and I she said "LIPS MOM!" ha I think mine scared her a little!
Sadie also came for the weekend to spend a little time with us and it was a lot of fun! I miss having her close but I am glad she is loving Arizona. All in all it was a great trip going to see one of my best friends and I can't wait until she is my neighbor!

When I landed in Salt Lake I turned on my phone to find out that one of our friends Josh Lloyd had lost his battle to cancer. My heart breaks for his sweet wife and family. I have been counting my blessing more than usual this week. I am so blessed in my life with an amazing husband, family, health, career and the list goes on and on. Life is too short to not do the little things each day to be a happy person... whether it is taking that walk around the block with your sweetheart or eating that whole pan of rice krispies by yourself DO IT.. because in reality the little things are what make up who and what we are in our lives.
